Experience the joy of adopting an adult cat (watch video)!

Denali
7 year old
Neutered Male
Denali is a regal, long haired Siamese whose light blue eyes bring the glaciers of Alaska come to mind. In his last home this chatty boy lived with children, another cat and a dog. He did fine with the children and generally loves people, however we think that he would do best in a home without other animals so he gets all the attention and adoration he deserves. He will need lots of brushing to keep his beautiful coat shining and some playtime with toys for exercise. Since he was used to food being always available, changing this to portion control would benefit him. This "cool" cat will be your best buddy before you know it.

Gilligan
6 year old
Neutered Male

Gorgeous blue eyed Gilligan is a striking Lynx Point looking to settle down. He never met a meal he didn't like. Since he enjoys wand toys encourage more playtime with him always being mindful of your hands. He has strong opinions and is very clear about his feelings. Having an experienced guardian will help him adjust to his new environment. Start him off with short grooming sessions until he becomes more comfortable with the process. Gilligan wants his own island paradise with all the essentials. Visit him several times a day the first few weeks, gradually letting him out to explore other rooms. This handsome boy can’t wait to grace your home with his presence.

Brava
9 year old
Spayed Female

Beautiful Brava obviously had a home where she was well cared for, but then she was lost before she was rescued and brought here. She was happy to be sheltered and fed, but she isn't sure this is her place of choice to perform; she prefers to crawl into her own personal dressing room under a towel. Brava is easy to coax out and handle when you want to bring her out of hiding, but is a little overwhelmed right now, and really needs a great new home to feel totally safe again. Start her out in a room with all she needs, including maybe a small blanket on a bed where she can create her own private space until she feels comfortable enough to perform on your stage.

Stella
10 year old
Spayed Female
Oh, the stories lovely Stella could tell if only she had a mind to do so. Where has she been? She was lost from her original home many years ago and she stayed off the grid until now. Lovely Stella knows exactly what she wants. She would like a home with no other pets, or if there had to be a dog, an elderly, mellow, cat loving dog might be acceptable. She is past the stage where a houseful of lively children would be appealing. She is looking to fill someone's empty nest, in essence! Stella is just starting her senior years so being warm, indoors and cozy in a quiet environment is high on her wish list this Christmas. Stella appreciates a kind, patient approach so that she can develop some trust. Oh, the stories Stella could tell.....
Ashley
4 year old
Spayed Female

Beautiful Ashley was found near the Paradise shopping center looking for someone to love. Living on the street has its drawbacks. This young lady wants to feel the sun on her back, curled up on a cozy bed looking out the window of life. One of her greatest pleasures is having her chin scratched; her eyes close and it’s like she entering nirvana. Ashley seems to have aversion to being confined or held too tightly. For now children (14+) should be respectful of her wishes and not carry her around. She will make a wonderful companion and is destined for royalty. Show Ashley that having her in your life is all you need to make the holidays truly splendid.

Redtail
4 year old
Spayed Female

This charming girl came from a home with too many cats. Redtail’s previous owner called her outgoing, friendly and affectionate. Her perfect day is playing, napping and, of course, eating yummy food. At night, she is happy to share your bed with you. Right now, the shelter environment is overwhelming for her, but once she settles into a loving new home, she'll come out of her shell. She may hide at first when you first bring her home, so be patient with her. Redtail enjoys being held as long as she can bury her head in the crook of your arm. She will be happy to let you give her a nice, gentle grooming session. We think she will feel safe and comfortable in a calm, quiet household.

Gina
11 year old
Spayed Female

Sweet Gina wants nothing more than to find a quiet home with a lap or two to settle into! Gina came to our shelter when her favorite person was no longer able to care for her. She has been a cherished feline friend for all her life, and has a lot of love to give in her future. Please set up a small, comfortable, safe area where she can spend the next week or so. Let her ask for interaction before you force your attention on her. As she seems ready, let her explore the rest of your home a bit at a time, always giving her the option to return to her room and litter box. With time and patience, she will learn to trust and will welcome your loving attention. Listen carefully; she has a soft purr to let you know of her contentment!

Mango
9 year old
Neutered Male

Mango finds himself in a precarious position. One day he woke up with a roof over his head and the next minute he was all alone. How did this delightful cat go unclaimed? He is still scratching his head on this one!  Fortunately, this soulful gentleman is the cat’s meow. He starts out a little shy and reserved, but once he’s comfortable he’ll ask you for attention by giving you gentle head butts. He is also quite fond of a good snuggle in a warm lap.  He has reached the point in his life where a quieter environment would suit him just fine.  Adopting Mango will be a real sweet treat.

Granada
5 year old
Spayed Female

Beautiful Granada is looking for better accommodations. She spent a great deal of time in the Petaluma Shelter and recently re-located to Marin hoping it would be her springboard to a great new life. Ask our adoptions team if you can come in and visit giving her gentle reassurances. This sweetheart is ready for a change. She needs a quiet room with all the accoutrements and time to adjust to her new environment. Make sure everyone uses their inside voice and visits her often. After a week or two gradually give her a little more freedom, always allow her easy access back to her litter box and special place. Grenada has a heart of gold and the potential of being a wonderful lifelong companion.

Marilyn
1 year old
Spayed Female

Little Marilyn came to us after the Good Samaritan who was feeding her and her kittens moved away. Her kittens have all found homes, so now it’s Marilyn’s turn.  She would like you to know she is still a young cat herself and is extremely happy, active and PLAYFUL.  Her motto would be: playing all day makes a girl purr all night! Keep in mind play time with cat wands works better than hands. With Marilyn being such an active, inquisitive girl, she might get a little over stimulated at times. Over stimulation is not an unusual behavior especially for younger cats. If Marilyn does get a too exuberant with her cuddle time just switch to play time and let her burn off some of that energy. She is a lovely young lady, looking for a heart to call home.

Precious 2-U
6 year old
Spayed Female

If you are looking for some kitty affection in your life, look no more.  Precious 2-U is your gal.  Her only condition is that you allow her to be your one and only as she was most unhappy when some new cats were introduced to her previous home. We find Precious 2-U to be a very affectionate cat just looking for a home to fill with love, play time and some therapy lap time.  Give her a small room of her own for a week or so.  She will need all the kitty essentials - soft bed, spacious litter box, food, water and your companionship as often as you can spare.  Let her explore the rest of your home gradually, always giving her the opportunity to return to her litter box and resting area.  She will soon be making herself right at home.

Deisel
3 year old
Neutered Male

Dear Diesel seems to have been through a lot. Originally from the Solano County Animal Shelter, Diesel found his way here as a stray. His previous owner did not respond to our call, so now Diesel is seeking a new life in Marin. One could do worse. He couldn't be nicer, even though it's clear he's a bit sad and concerned about what happens next. Even when startled (and boy can that tail get big!), Diesel is more likely to hide in a small place and cry a bit than to react with sabers drawn. He loves petting, quiet cooing and gentle snuggling. We believe that once this handsome man settles into a new home with loving, patient guardians he will blossom into a truly self-possessed and wonderful cat.

Milo
7 year old
Neutered Male

Milo is no girly man. He has a 'tude that won't quit, making him both so incredibly adorable and a bit of a handful. One moment, he's a love bug.  The next, he'll let you know he's had enough of your presence, and it's time to go hunt a toy, or the unattainable bird outside the window. Or perhaps it's just time to have a staring contest with the dog. Milo certainly knows how to strut his stuff ! He has lived in a household with other cats, but will do better as the one and only adored and pampered cat.

Sonata
4 year old
Spayed Female

This lovely Sonata would like nothing more than to find a safe, sunny spot to relax and watch the world go by. Shelter life is a bit intimidating for her, but we feel she will show a very different personality once she feels secure in a loving home. If you are looking for a mature cat with a lot of love to give, check Sonata out!  For the best start in your home, set Sonata up in a small room of her own for a week or so with a comfy bed, litter box, food water, a scratching post, and particularly your company as often as possible. Bring wand toys and maybe some fish flakes to win her heart and to engage her in play. Sonata is quite conversational when she is in a new area, so get ready for some feline dialogue!

Amber
4 year old
Spayed Female

Come and meet lovely Amber, a sweet shy girl who is looking for her forever home because someone in her previous family developed allergies. Soft and gentle with a deep rumbling purr, Amber enjoys being brushed and petted as well as being scratched near the base of her tail. Here at the shelter she is a little reserved, but once comfortable in her new home, we are confident that her friendly chatty "purrsonality" will emerge. Go slowly with Amber as she is sensitive to sudden movements and loud noises. Amber has been the sole recipient of her family's love and attention, so she might prefer to continue that arrangement. Amber is ready to grace your home and your life for years to come.

Cleo
1 year old
Spayed Female

Little Cleo found her way into a home and the hearts of a family in the Oakland Hills; sadly they had to move, so Cleo is once again looking for a secure home to call her very own.  Although she is a little shy she comes with some wonderful attributes; she loves to sit on a lap and when you comb her shiny coat, she will purr and purr for you. The kind of home she is looking for is one without a lot of action and noise, as early in her life she didn't have a safe place to live. So if you are looking for a small companion to cuddle up and keep you warm, check Cleo out!

Tyson
1 year old
Neutered Male

Busy Tyson is looking for a home that will keep him, well, BUSY! This bundle of energy will need plenty of stimulating things to do in his new home - cat trees to explore, paper bags to hide in, windows to look out of and lots of toys to play with. He will need daily interactive exercise with his new people or another perhaps another friendly feline. He is always on the go! Tyson has a pink nose and his ears are a little on the bare side; therefore he will need to live inside to protect these areas from the sun's harmful rays.  Besides, his previous owner states "he is entertaining to watch and even more funny when I interact with him." Who would want to miss that? Adopt Tyson and let the fun begin!

Basil
2 year old
Neutered Male

Basil is handsome kitty. One of the first things that draws your attention to this sweet boy is his dreamy green eyes. Big sigh. Not to mention his easy demeanor and gentle nature.  Basil likes to ask for attention and may not let you get your work done until he gets his snuggle time. What a love bug!  His lineage keeps us guessing but he could easily be part Russian Blue. Basil came to us as a stray and it’s hard to believe that nobody came looking for him. But their loss is our gain, so it just might be your lucky day. If you are a first time cat guardian, Basil has all the qualities you are looking for. Come meet him and see why he is already one of our favorites.

Sugar
5 month old
Spayed Female

Sugar could be one of the cat "spice girls". She is full of squirminess, bursts of energy and leaps into the air. And then again she might just sit and stare at the world at large ignoring you - in other words, a female. She is busy, busy, busy. She is quite the athletic young lady and will need both mental and physical exercise. Make sure she has lots of toys to play with and fun places to investigate. She does use a scratching post or board so put one or two in her favorite spots in the house – your furniture will thank you! She comes to us from the Mendocino shelter, hoping to become a cool Marinite – and who can blame her?

Gift
3 year old
Spayed Female

This is your special day, and we have the perfect "Gift" for you!  All wrapped up in white and Tabby, our lovely "Gift" is ready to share her wonderful personality and affectionate nature as soon as you give her some attention and a bit of love.  This girl is as sweet as can be, is curious and ready to discover new things, and just adores being the center of attention. When you first bring your "Gift" home, give her a room all her own. Visit her often, spend quality time with her and in no time at all she will want to be with you every chance she gets.  She has so much to share including a warm and loving personality that is a treasure to behold.

Annie
6 month old
Spayed Female

This stunning redhead literally fell off the perch. Annie had surgery on her shoulder and  is now ready to embrace her new life. She has this intelligent look about her, as if she understands her behavior can be a bit naughty.  Her new forever home should be with experienced cat savvy people who understand that she prefers things on her own terms.  She has definite opinions and gives clear signals when she’s reached her limits. Given her young age you can redirect her mouthy behavior very easily. She is very playful and active - teach her to spare your hands and play with interactive wand toys. Annie will most certainly add a spark to your life.

Pippa
1 year old
Spayed Female

This young lady comes from the Mendocino shelter and wants to make Marin her new home. Not only does Pippa have a coat of many colors, but she can be adaptable, too. She   is quite willing to fit into just about any new home. She might even put up with a well behaved dog. She is friendly, curious and playful. She loves playing with interactive wand toys, and would probably enjoy having a scratching post.  She is a little sound sensitive, so young children should be respectful of her needs and not overwhelm her. All she asks for is your love, good food and a comfy bed for her naps. Let Pippa share your home and she'll make your life complete.
