Jeremiah
10-month-old
Neutered Male, 58lbs
Great Dane Mix
Wham! Bam! This guy thinks he's a superdog! Jeremiah is full of adolescent energy. Like most teenagers, he's exploring his boundaries, and needs a lot of structure and guidance to meet his potential. He plays hard with people, using his body to push them out of the way. He also plays hard with other dogs, so his playmates need to be chosen with care.
Jeremiah knows some obedience exercises (like "sit" and "down"), and he has a desire to please, but he's fighting his energy and his instincts, so classes will be a must.
f you like big dogs with plus-size personalities, Jeremiah may be just the dog for you!

Moses
3-year-old
Spayed Female, 81lbs
German Shepherd Mix
This handsome black and tan dog is Moses! At two years he's a wonderful age - he's outgrown high-energy puppyhood, and he's ready to relax and enjoy life with you. Moses is a bit sensitive in new surroundings, so give him time to adjust. He loves to play with squeaky toys and balls; these will be wonderful tools for keeping him exercised while he develops a nice relationship with you. Moses is built to cover a lot of ground with those long legs; take him hiking or jogging to keep both of you fit and trim.
This tall, dark and handsome dog could be the guy you are seeking. We hope you can offer him the affection, training and stable, forever-home that he needs.

Chancey
7-month-old
Neutered Male, 41lbs
Shepehrd Mix
Feel like taking a chance on a super dog? Well then, we would like to introduce you to Chancey. This handsome fellow was recently returned to us because his owner did not have enough time to care for him properly. Their loss is your gain, we say.
Chancey is an energetic, entertaining dog. What do we mean by entertaining? Give this boy a rubber squeaky toy and find out. He plays and plays and plays and plays - and is very funny to watch! Honestly, we stopped his evaluation for about 10 minutes just to watch him play. (This evaluator wishes she had that much enthusiasm!)
Chancey is a great dog just looking for the right home. If you want a special dog to join your family, you have found him!

Fefe
5-year-old
Spayed Female, 14lbs
Chihuahua Mix
Little Fefe can't wait to spend evenings on your couch nuzzled up to you for a nice belly rub while you watch TV. She will probably meld just perfectly into your life. If you live a relatively quiet life and don't have a burning desire to visit the dog park (she doesn’t like other dogs), Fefe is a loving sweet girl who will make a great canine companion.

Jack thinks life is great - and will be even better with you! Rat Terriers like Jack are known for being intelligent, alert and loving. They can be very inquisitive and lively. Bumper
7-month-old
Neutered Male, 73lbs
Larbrador Mix
Bumper and his litter mates traveled all the way from Inyo County to Marin via our Pet Partnership Program. It is known that their mother was a Labrador Retriever/Bassett Hound mix! And they all have some of each, though the Lab side seems to dominate.
Unfortunately, Bumper's first home didn't work out. He was overly mouthy with the young children and thought that chasing the family cat was great good fun. Now, he is looking for a home with high school aged children and really tough cats!
Bumper spent some time in our San Quentin foster program to see if we could observe his anxious nighttime behaviors. None were noted. He had a wonderful time with the inmates, guards and best of all with the other resident foster dogs. We recommend that Bumper be part of a multi dog household.
True to his lab/hound background, it has been noted that Bumper can be a bit, um, strong minded. Don't fight him on this: rather take a Family Dog 1 class and learn how to make him think that it is all HIS idea! HINT: he is very food motivated!

Scrappy
1-year-old
Neutered Male, 33lbs
Wirehaired Pointer/Corgi Mix
Scrappy looks like he just popped out of a Disney movie! This dog is as sweet as he is cute! He loves people, other dogs, toys he should get along with kids, but the jury is still out on cats. Who knows? A confident cat might handle Scrappy just fine.
One thing about Scrappy is that he can be quite mouthy apparently no one ever told him that that is puppy stuff and adult dogs keep their mouths to themselves. If you take the time to teach him that, everyone (your hands included) will be much happier.
Good looks aside, Scrappy is a great dog. If you’re looking for a fun loving dog to have by your side, he’s right here.

Tim
1-year-old
Neutered Male, 26lbs
Brittany Spaniel Mix
Tim has a loving, sweet, affectionate personality, though he has had a few hard knocks in his life. He really likes and enjoys being with people, but is very sensitive to noise and sudden movements (umbrellas being opened, a dropped dish etc.). He is totally in his element playing with stuffed squeaky toys even more than tennis balls.
His ideal household would be any family who has had one or two dogs who live in a less hectic quiet environment. If there are children in the home we suggest they be 14-16 years or older with parental supervision.
Tim is ready for a new chapter in his life. He has great potential; just give him consistent leadership, structure and the positive experiences he needs to become a great loyal companion.

Donnie
10-month-old
Neutered Male, 14lbs
Terrier Mix
Wanna play? Donnie does! This cute little bundle of energy is looking for a home where he can get a ton of exercise and a ton of love. Donnie LOVES toys and loves to play fetch - he'll even bring the toy back to you to keep the game going! This will be a great way to tire him out.
By the way, Donnie likes to jump. It would appear that he maybe even has springs in his legs. While this can sometimes be cute, it can also be frustrating and irritating. And sometimes when he jumps, he jumps up toward your face, snapping at the air in his enthusiasm. This is a behavior that you will want to curb immediately!
All in all, Donnie is one heck of a dog. He is smart, cute and quite a clown. In the right home, with proper management and enough exercise, Donnie is going to make one have of a companion!

Woody
8-month-old
Neutered Male, 16lbs
Terrier Mix
For a fun time, hang out with Woody! He was lost, and now he waits to be found. In his short life, no one has taken the time to teach Woody his manners, but he has a loving soul.
Woody wants to play. He is interested in toys and has started to retrieve a small fuzzy toy. Learning to calm himself down is still beyond his grasp, but he is a quick learner. In fact, he is really smart! Taking Woody to Family Dog 1 class will open up a whole new world for him. He will enjoy learning (he does love his treats, which will make it even easier) and you will bond more quickly by learning to communicate with each other.
Woody would like a family where someone is home most of the time, and is ready to take on his energetic, athletic (boy can he JUMP!), approach to life.

Stubby
5-year-old
Neutered Male, 79lbs
Labrador Mix

Stubby is an adorable, sweet, stocky young man who, through no fault of his own, was surrendered to us to find a new home. He has lived most of his life outside with another dog and is overjoyed when he has the opportunity to be with other people.
He showed mild interest in toys during his evaluation; this should be developed but his main focus is human contact. You will be surprised how gentle this burly boy is and marvel at his eyes lighting up when you call his name.
Be patient and give Stubby the structure, guidance and love he needs to be the lifelong companion he was meant to be!

Liberty
7-year-old
Spayed Female, 65lbs
Doberman Pinscher
Lovely Liberty is a delightful example of the Doberman Pinscher breed. The Doberman Pinscher was originally developed to accompany the tax collector on his dangerous rounds. They tend to be extremely loyal to their family, slightly wary of strangers and highly food motivated. They are versatile companions who can be trained in a variety of occupations and sports. In short, they are dogs to DO something with rather than relegate to the back yard.
We recommend owners who are either experienced with dogs or who have owned a Doberman Pinscher in the past. She is very strong! She would also like to live with another dog as she is quite playful. However, she has a very physical and vocal play style which will be intimidating to some dogs. She isn't a good candidate for the Dog Park. We suggest a consultation prior to adoption to discuss these issues if you have any questions. Please do your breed research as the Doberman Pinscher is a large, powerful breed.

Abigail
6-year-old
Spayed Female, 45lbs
Basset/Beagle Mix
Take a stroll down Abbey Road! Abigail is a Basset Beagle mix who is 6 years old going on 2. She has lots of bubbly energy while playing, but is also able to settle back down easily when play time is over. She is very fun loving and affectionate, very playful, but she is also very territorial and an accomplished escape artist. Abbey will require an experienced handler to make sure she 1) can never escape from her home and 2) works on her leash frustration and territorial aggression. She is not and should never be a yard dog and because of her breeds' barking instincts, she is not a good candidate for apartment living.
But, if you love Beagles or you love Bassets, you surely get the best of both breeds in little Miss Abigail. Or if you just love crooked legged, cute, belly rub loving, playful love muffins, well, maybe she is the dog for you. A behavioral consult is required for any potential adopters. No children please, but other dogs ok.

Lefty
2-year-old
Neutered Male, 10lbs
Terrier Mix
Lucky Lefty came to us from Yolo County, where he apparently believed he was the king. Left is great with people - he loves to play and he loves to cuddle. He appears to be house trained, but as always, we suggest you limit him to a room or smallish area at first, just to make sure. Lefty was willing to share food, but wasn't quite so good with a chew toy, so he'll need work on that.
Lucky does have some issues with other dogs. He seems to enjoy barking and lunging at them, and wasn't interested in making friends. This can be worked with, and is the reason a consultation with a behaviorist is required. As a rule, terriers aren't wonderful with kids, so we are recommending Lefty for kids 16+.

Gunner
2-year-old
Neutered Male, 90lbs
Labrador Mix
This big yellow lab mix is Gunner, a sweet and mellow dog who will make a wonderful companion for a family that has had some dog experience. Because of his large size, we suggest he live with children ages six and over. Gunner has lived his life as an outdoor dog, in a kennel for most of the hours in the day. Despite this sorry history, he's a wonderful guy who is friendly, sensitive, and forgiving.
Gunner will benefit from some human TLC; teach him how wonderful life can be living inside the house with you and the family. Enroll him in dog training class where he can develop a bond with you while learning simple obedience commands and polite behavior. He walks nicely on a leash and should be a great dog for sharing long hikes with you. He's a bit soft, and could use some trimming down while building muscle tone.
Gunner was polite in meeting other dogs and has lived with them previously. He may enjoy the company of another canine member in the household. More than anything, though, he'll seek your companionship and reward you many times over with his love and affection. This big boy is a gem!
