LB

Ringo
1-year-old
Neutered Male, 60lbs
Queensland Heeler Mix

Ringo is one of those dogs who feels responsible for his whole world. When he's with the people he trusts, and in an environment he trusts, he is very nice, sweet and personable. He spends a great deal of time up at the adoption desk, so we think he would be a great office dog or a great companion for someone who works from home. He does very well sitting quietly next to our desk, stretched out on his comfy bed. However, he does get worried about strange dogs - especially when he's on his own territory - and will need a lot of environmental controls, structure, and training to reach his full potential. Ringo will do well with experienced guardians, who can start right away to give him the guidance he needs. He will be forever grateful.

Rosebud
6-year-old
Spayed Female, 6lbs
Chihuahua Mix

Rosebud is in foster care. Arrange to meet her by contacting adoptions (415) 506-6225.

Rosebud's guardian was unable to care for her any longer and now she is looking for a calm home where she can settle down and enjoy life. Because Rosebud is frightened here at the shelter, she is being cared for in a loving foster home. Rosebud's best friend is foster mom's daughter who carries her everywhere she goes! Sweet little Rosebud is looking for the right family to help her bloom. Rosebud's foster family members are her biggest fans and describe her as sweet, playful and sassy. Ask to see what Rosebud's foster family wrote about her ... she just might be the little flower you've been looking for!

Othello
9-month-old
Neutered Male, 67lbs
German Shepherd Mix

Othello comes to us as an unclaimed stray. He is a sweet but very energetic adolescent dog who will require a lot of exercise as well as training and structure. He will do best with an experienced adopter who can give him the leadership he needs to develop into a great companion. Othello loves fetching tennis balls. This is a wonderful way to burn off some of his excess energy. Three work-outs per day would be perfect for him. Othello likes other dogs but needs to learn some manners when playing. He is an exuberant player and may be too overwhelming for some dogs. His new adopter should choose his play-mates carefully and supervise playtime. Othello is a wonderful adolescent, who given an experienced, consistent adopter should become a great lifelong companion.

Frankie
2-year-old
Neutered Male, 12lbs
Poodle Mix

ADOPTED!

Stella
2 1/2-year-old
Spayed Female, 85lbs
Labrador Mix

If you have been looking for an active, high-spirited companion, this may be the girl for you. Stella has a youthful way about her, which is not surprising for an exuberant Labrador, Great Dane mix; she loves playing with toys! She is going to need strong management, leadership and training on your part to turn her into your dream girl. Stella is looking for an experienced, dog savvy household who can handle her effervescent personality and energy level. It is best that Stella get her exercise interacting with you versus going to the dog park. Remember "a tired dog is a happy dog". If you love running, hiking, jogging, playing Frisbee at the beach, she is your girl. Stella is a big goofy love and wants nothing more than to be your lifelong companion.

Ursula
2 1/2-year-old
Spayed Female, 55lbs
German Shepherd Mix

If you like to play ball, Ursula may just be the dog for you. She doesn't just like to play ball - she is addicted to it! She had plenty of previous training before coming to MHS and knows how to sit and down and, oh by the way, fetch. Though she may be a great trail and beach dog, she probably isn't going to do very well in a dog park setting -- unless other dogs just let her play fetch with a human. The way to Ursula's heart is through food and play. She is very intelligent and would love a life where she got to continue training for tricks or dog sports. Just give her a chance, and Ursula's warm dark eyes will win your heart.

Ideal Home: Best in a home with children 10 years or older

Violet
3-year-old
Spayed Female, 19lbs
Jack Russell Terrier Mix

When Violet looks at you with such pleading eyes, who can resist. Shy and sweet, she is eager to please and enjoys being petted. She is not fond of loud noises and sudden movements and would prefer to be the only dog in the household. Her foster mother reports, "Violet is a wonderful dog, with large soulful eyes, she will be a great pet!" Being more of a leisure type of dog, Violet doesn't play with toys but would do well in a class to learn manners and bond with her new guardian. This young lady will steal your heart with her charm and make a wonderful family companion.

Ideal Home: Best in a home with children 16 years or older

Madison
2-year-old
Spayed Female, 57lbs
German Shepherd Mix

Madison is a sweet shepherd looking for a good, experienced home where she can continue to give the love she used to give to her previous guardian, who unfortunately could no longer care for her. She has plenty of previous training and would love to continue that with her new family. Madison enjoys playing ball, though she has to warm to you a bit first. She met a few dogs during her evaluation, and was reticent for a bit, then social. But more than anything, Madison wants to bond with a person, and become part of their home life.

Roscoe Pierre
1-year-old
Neutered Male, 9lbs
Mini Pinscher

ADOPTED!

Mac
4-month-old
Neutered Male, 20lbs
Shepherd Mix

ADOPTED!

Flicka
3-year-old
Spayed Female, 15lbs
Terrier Mix

Flicka is bouncing enthusiastic Jack Russell Terrier. She is an adult dog and has reached her full size at right about 15 lbs. Although she may be lap-dog size, this busy girl is no couch potato. Although Flicka will play with toys, it is food that most excites her. This will make training a breeze. Good thing too, as she is ready to turn on that terrier energy for any number of games and tricks. Flicka would be best suited in a home with children over 10 years; kids that can run and play with her; but not grab or squish her. Being a terrier she most likely would find chasing small furry animals very exciting. Caution should be taken if you have cats, rabbits or any other prey type animal. Flicka met several dogs here and she had lived with dogs in her previous home. She accepts other dogs; but she would rather just be with people. Flickas best match will be an energetic person who can offer her plenty of mental and physical exercise.

Ideal Home: Best in a home with children 10 years or older

Skippy
7-month-old
Neutered Male, 11lbs
Terrier Mix

Hippy Skippy fair and fun! This little dog is as charming as he is cute, and that is saying quite a bit. His perfect home would be one with dog savvy owners, children, if present, older than 10 years of age and no other animals in the house. This isn't to say that Skippy doesn't like other dogs because he is quite partial to some of them. Skippy doesn't like to share! Skippy is, in many ways, still a mouthy little puppy who will need your patient guidance as he learns what the rules are in the world. What a delightful task...teaching this adorable puppy!

Ideal Home: Best in a home with children 10 years or older

Roxy
5-year-old
Spayed Female, 15lbs
Poodle Mix

Little Roxy acts like a dog who has hasn't had the best life. She is wary and cautious of new people and takes a bit of time to warm up. Once she has, she enjoys attention and doing normal doggie things - like sniffing at bushes and checking out her environment. Roxy's new guardian should be an experienced person with a lot of patience - she doesn't trust very easily, and it may take some time to build up a good relationship. Meanwhile, she needs to be handled gently and carefully, and to be respected as a somewhat fearful little girl. Are you the right person to help this sweet girl come out of her shell?

Chantrelle
2-year-old
Spayed Female, 9lbs
Chihuahua Mix

ADOPTED!

Santiago
2-year-old
Neutered Male, 16lbs
Miniature Poodle Mix

Are you looking for a fun-loving playful young man? Meet Santiago who came all the way from Mexico just to be with you. Don't let his svelte body fool you. He came dirty, matted and unkempt but with a little help from his friends got a new lease on life. This youngster acts like a puppy and is full of energy. He loves playing with squeaky toys and has a pretty good fetch in the makings. If you are an active family looking for a friendly face, take this Don Juan out for a spin. If you decide to let Santiago's hair grow back be sure to give him an occasional grooming. To harness some of his energy give him a couple of daily walks and a good game of fetch. He needs your guidance but you will be justly rewarded with his love and devotion.

Ideal Home: Best in a home with children 16 years or older

Pablo
2-year-old
Neutered Male, 21lbs
Terrier Mix

Isn't Pablo adorable? Well, right now he is shaved because he had matted fur, but you can tell from that scruffy, endearing face what the rest will look like shortly. Pablo comes from South of the Border looking for a quiet home with a nice, set routine. He would be uncomfortable living with young children. Rather, he needs to live with someone who is savvy about respecting one's personal space until a certain level of comfort is met. He doesn't need excessive amounts of exercise, which is a nice change of pace from some of our higher energy guests. Pablo would probably be perfectly content to live as an "only dog", but he might do well with another smaller, mellow dog.

Ideal Home: Best in a home with children 16 years or older

Miguel
4-year-old
Neutered Male, 15lbs
Miniature Poodle Mix

Clever Miguel got himself onto the bus for Pet Partnership to arrive at MHS in style after his ordeals in Mexico. This savvy poodle/terrier is a real surviver and very smart. You should love both poodles and terriers if you are considering bringing him into your home. Possibly because of his being found starving and mangey in Juarez, Miguel has a strong attitude about what he thinks is valuable. While not actually guarding his stuff, he has learned to grab quickly and tightly what he can get. Hands can get in his way, ouch! Miguel will enjoy a busy, active lifestyle. Though he looks shaggy now, he will be elegant when his coat grows in. Miguel is eager to have a family he can call his own.

Ideal Home: Best in a home with children 16 years or older

Laney
3-year-old
Spayed Female, 50lbs
Beagle Mix

Sweet Laney needs someone to love - she is friendly and outgoing, with big, warm eyes. Laney would be the perfect companion, as long as her companion is always there. She suffers from separation anxiety, and it manifests by her being very vocal. Her previous guardians worked hard to help her through this behavior problem, and their notes are available. We noted that she did much better when housed with another dog she likes (preferably a male), so may do very well as a second dog in a home.

Buddy
8-month-old
Neutered Male, 8lbs
Cockapoo Mix

ADOPTED!

Mickey
4-year-old
Neutered Male, 10lbs
Fox Terrier Mix

Mickey is somewhat independent with people on first meeting, a Terrier trait, but warms up pretty quickly. While in foster he did well with both kids and dogs. At first he chased the resident cat, but with training learned to leave her alone. He was very social with the dogs he met here making him a good candidate as a second dog in the household. Mickey shows little interest in toys but does like to explore his environment. His exercise requirements should consist of at least two half hour walks per day. Mickey's foster parents describe him as eager to please and learn the rules of the house. You'll find he'll warm your heart they way he did his foster family. Be sure to ask to read the foster notes.

Ideal Home: Best in a home with children 6 years or older

Auggie
7-month-old
Spayed Female, 46lbs
German Shepherd

Calling all you German Shepherd fans! Come check out Auggie, who is just about the perfect size and perfect age! Auggie is both food and toy motivated so she will be a blast to train. However, she does need an owner who is interested in furthering her basic obedience. Auggie has an active mind and body and both will need significant exercise. Auggie is very social with other dogs and would make a nice second dog. In fact, Auggie is so social that she experiences leash frustration when she isn't permitted to go and visit other dogs. Auggie's perfect home would be a prior German Shepherd dog owner.

Maisy
9-year-old
Spayed Female, 45lbs
Basset Hound Mix

ADOPTED!

Twister
1-year-old
Neutered Male, 48lbs
Carolina Dog Mix

Twist and shout, twist and shout! Adopt this extremely fun dog and you will be doing a lot of everything, including twisting and shouting! Twister is a young, joyful, happy, busy dog. He has some of the Carolina dog looks, but his graceful movements and long stride suggest some sight hound genetics as well. Whatever the breed mix, Twister will need regular exercise and opportunity to unfold his long legs and RUN! Twister very much enjoys playing with other dogs, so he might make a good second dog. However, choose carefully as he could possibly drive a mellow dog right over the edge. Take one look into his soft eyes (with perfect eyeliner!) and fall in love for keeps.

Nike
2-year-old
Neutered Male, 45lbs
Border Collie Mix

ADOPTED!

Dino
18-month-old
Neutered Male, 16lbs
Terrier Mix

Meet Dino! This little guy has it all going for him: looks, charm, charisma - what more could you ask for? Dino loves to play and meet new people... no one is a stranger to this kid! He really loves food and attention, so he should be a blast to train. He loves food so much, in fact, that he has a tendency to guard tasty things that he thinks are his. The good news is that he's amenable to learning how to trade - he definitely needs work in this department! He needs a home with experienced owners who aren't going to let him run the show. He wasn't at all interested in the dogs we introduced him to; he was much more into the people around and what yummy tidbits might be hidden in their pockets. Dino is a sweet, charming, loving dog who just has a few kinks to work out - he's one heck of a dog!

Mary
9-month-old
Spayed Female, 29lbs
Shepherd Mix

ADOPTED!

Scooter
2-year-old
Spayed Female, 12lbs
Jack Russell Terrier Mix

This sweet-natured girl has been blessed with beautiful, long wiry eyebrows that make her look angelic. Scooter will need a patient family and a little time to adjust. She can be shy and reserved when meeting new people. For this reason her new forever home should have prior breed experience. Even though she only showed mild interest in squeaky toys we know there is a fun-loving, playful dog inside begging to come out and play. This adorable young lady is the perfect size for any home and will surely make you the envy of your neighborhood. Scooter has all the makings of a great companion, all she needs is your guidance, a consistent routine, daily exercise and a warm place to call home.
