Hansel
3-month-old
Neutered Male
American Rabbit

Hansel and Gretel are so in love! And you will be too once you spend some time with them. Both were brought here by their owner, but no information was given. In fact, they hadn't even named them! So now this lovely couple is looking for a family that will adopt them and give them the love and attention they deserve. Both of these two are really sweet and would be fine for a family that's new to having rabbits. Hansel and Gretel are pretty mellow and enjoy just hanging out. Both of these rabbits are very sweet and should settle in nicely with any family.

Take a chance on me!

Gretel
2-month-old
Spayed Female
American Rabbit

Gretel and Hansel are both sweet, curious and outgoing (Hansel more so). These two are going to make a great addition to the family that adopts them. Gretel and Hansel enjoy hanging out together. We've gotten many smiles as they groom each other, spoon together and run, hop and do Bunny Binky's. Rabbits prefer to have a friend and are much happier when not living all alone. Both are easy to pick-up and tolerate being held for short periods of time. Keep in mind that if properly cared for, rabbits can live to be 10-12 years old. That's a big commitment for a family to make and not one to be taken lightly. But, really, we know you can tell they are worth it!

King Pigeons
Adult

Fortunately for Kinsley and his friends there is a great rescue group called MickaCoo. They are frequently asked to take in KP's that can no longer be kept by their families, or are left somewhere. Right now they have so many they asked us to take in some. We were glad to since we had the room. So now Kinsley and his friends are ready to leave MHS and go home with loving caretakers. King Pigeons are extremely calm birds and can be tamed and learn to accept handling. Kings can live either indoors or outdoors. Most live to be about 8 years old. Listen for a few minutes and you'll start to relax!

Snow White
Adult
Spayed Female
American Rabbit

Snow White and her friend Mary Poppins  were rescued by a good Samaritan from a most neglectful situation. They have really come around and are much more outgoing then when they first arrived. But, of course, their new family should give them time to get settled (about one night). Rabbits are hard to age but we suspect that they are both young adults.  Keep in mind that rabbits can live to be 10-12 years old.  That's a big commitment for any family, but well worth it. Snow White loves petting and chin scratching. Like most rabbits she prefers to be on the ground. But overall she's pretty easy to pick-up. She's very good about having her nails trimmed despite her fears. She and Mary Poppins would really love having lots of room to roam around, stretch out and play. Giving them toys and changing the toys from time to time will keep them guessing - in a good way! Spend some time with these two girls. You'll see why so many families love having rabbits be part of theirs!

Mary Poppins
Adult
Spayed Female
Mini Rex Rabbit

Mary Poppins and her friend Snow White were rescued by a good Samaritan from a most neglectful situation. It is nice to see how lovely and resilient companion animals can be, even after living through tough times. Granted, these girls both need lots of time to warm up and get comfortable with you, but they respond well to petting and confident handling.  When they first arrived, they were very shy and scared. But within a few weeks they have gotten more outgoing and friendly. Mary Poppins is a particularly active girl who can jump out of a 24" height X-pen! Perhaps you have a spare room or even a large closet these ladies can live in. Or you can let them live in an x-pen, but either buy a cover for it or use a sheet to cover it. When she's not jumping, Mary Poppins loves to run around. So the message is "room to roam"! She needs loving encouragement when it comes to nail trims, so go slowly. Well cared for house rabbits can live between 10 and 12 years, so make room in your heart for your new long-time companions.

Mozart
Young
Male
Rex Rabbit

Beautiful Mozart comes to us from our Pet Partner shelter in Madera. He's a young rabbit who may not have had too much socialization with people, but he's certainly had enough to know how to behave politely under pressure. Mozart, like many rabbits, does not want you to pick him up if you are unfamiliar to him. Most of us can relate. : ) The irony is, Mozart is so soft, how could you NOT want to pick him up! Also like most bunnies, Mozart's favorite thing is to have space to run and explore. Keep in mind that if properly cared for, rabbits can live to be 10-12 years old. That's a big commitment for a family to make, and not one to be taken lightly. Mozart will repay that commitment with the music that is bunny love.

Angelina & Miss Alexandra
Adult, Spayed Female
English Spot Rabbit

Both sweet, curious and outgoing (Angelina more so) these two are going to make a great addition to the family that adopts them. Angelina and her best friend Shiloh enjoy hanging out together. Ask to spend some time with them. We are sure you'll be smitten by them like we have been!

Miss Alexandra & Angelina
Adult, Spayed Female
English Spot Rabbit

Of the two Shiloh is a little more shy. Although in time we think she'll be just as outgoing and curious as Angelina. Both of these girls are really sweet and would be fine for a family that's new to having rabbits. Both of these rabbits are very sweet and should settle in nicely with any family. Keep in mind that rabbits are very delicate. Children should be taught how to properly pet and interact with rabbits. If not held properly they can easily be injured. (Please read Angelina's card for more information.)

SCUBA

Billy Joe
6-week-old
Male
Hamster

Billy Joe is so small and cute, we imagine it won't take him long to get adopted.  He came to us with two other hamsters via a rescue group.  The shelter they came from had way too many Hamsters and we didn't have any!  Like all hamsters he prefers to sleep during the day and party at night! Although he's not cranky if you wake him during the day, he would just prefer you didn't. The easiest way to socialize a Hamster is to put your hand near them, palms up and give them time to sniff and (hopefully) crawl onto it. This could take several days so patience is key. (With hamsters it's always better to go VERY slowly with them. Letting them get used to smells and sounds in a new environment will put them at ease.) Hamsters live on average about 2-3 years. Hamsters can be great pets for children, but because of their size parents should always be supervising when interaction is taking place. Ask to meet cute little Billy Joe and you'll see how cute he is!

George Clooney
Young Adult
Neutered Male
Lop Eared Rabbit

George and Rosemary are looking forward to a family that will understand their different personalities. Of the two, George is more active, not as easy to pick-up (but getting more used to it) and a little bit more shy than Rosemary. These two were part of a large group of rabbits that were dumped by the side of the road. Not the best place for domesticated rabbits to be! We strongly recommend two x-pen's for them. Rosemary sometimes needs space from romantic George! And, rabbits need plenty of space to stretch out and move. Plus, two x-pen's provides space for their family to go in and sit with them... which is what rabbits prefer. Picking them up in an x-pen is much easier. Make sure to groom both of these two a couple of times each week. They were a little interested in toys in Rabbit Romper Room but more interested in having space to stretch. They will need to be out of their x-pen at least 2-3 hours a day for running around time. (Please read Rosemary's card for more information.)

Take a chance on me!

Rosemary
Adult
Spayed Female
American Rabbit

Both sweet, curious and outgoing (Rosemary more so) these two are going to make a great addition to the family that adopts them. These two enjoy being together, but Rosemary definitely enjoys having some space from George. He's very infatuated with her and sometimes is just a bit too romantic! Rabbits prefer to have a friend and are much happier when not living all alone. Rosemary is easier to pick-up and both tolerate being held for short periods of time. As with most bunnies their favorite thing is to have space to run and explore. A variety of toys is something else they enjoy and proper chewing items are good for them. Keep in mind that if properly cared for, rabbits can live to be 10-12 years old. That's a big commitment for a family to make and not one to be taken lightly. (See George's card for more care information.)

Patricia
1-year-old
Female
Hamster

Patricia is a Dwarf Hamster looking for a family to call her own. She will need an appropriate enclosure (we like to use 10 gallon tanks or larger) filled with soft bedding to burrow in, hiding places, fun things to shred like toilet paper and handfuls of hay, and a small wheel for burning off excess energy. Dwarf Hamsters need to take dust baths to keep clean, so provide her with a shallow dish of Chinchilla Dust at least twice a week. This will not only keep her coat nice, but provides fun and enrichment. Like most hamsters, Patricia is a little nervous about being handled and can be nippy if you are not careful. Go slow with her, be patient, and be sure to be sitting down in case she jumps or falls. She should also not be housed with any other hamsters, as this species is most happy alone. Are you an experienced hamster guardian looking for a new friend? Then consider Patricia!

ARI

Ari
4-year-old
Neutered Male
Holland Lop Rabbit

Ari and Emil are two very sweet boys that need a patient family to adopt them. They are both pretty easy to pick-up, enjoy being petted and did well during their nail trim. (Emil is the easier of the two to pick-up.) They were in a foster home where they were mellow and easygoing. The foster mom has several Basset Hound's and one of them really liked these two. They both could have cared less about the dogs! The one Basset that fell for them even gave them daily licks .. which they also didn't mind. How cute is that? Rabbits prefer to have a friend and are much happier when not living all alone. Keep in mind that if properly cared for, rabbits can live to be 10-12 years old. That's a big commitment for a family to make and not one to be taken lightly. But, we are sure that these two are worth it.

Both of these boys are really sweet and should be fine for a family that's new to having rabbits. They were a little interested in toys in Rabbit Romper Room but more interested in chewing the wicker toys. They will need to be out of their x-pen at least 2-3 hours a day for running around time. Both of these rabbits are very sweet and should settle in nicely with any family. Keep in mind that rabbits are very delicate. Children should be taught how to properly pet and interact with rabbits. Willow
Adult
Male
Rabbit

Willow is a beautiful young rabbit, a bit shy, but still in that phase where he can be charmed into relaxing and enjoying the company of people. He accepts being picked up, but he will need a family with a consistent routine, and even a little patience while he settles in and gets to know everyone. Willow's living space should allow him to hop around, stretch out, and even explore a little. Daily ventures in bunny-proof spaces, supervised by you will build his confidence and trust, and provide him with much needed mental and physical exercise. Giving Willow toys to nudge and wicker objects to chew will keep him exercised in all the right ways. He'll also enjoy boxes and tunnels to hide in. Change up his toys periodically to keep his mind stimulated. With the right care this lovely rabbit could live to be 10 to 12 years old. Bunny's make wonderful longtime companions!

Cuddles & Buffy
5-month-old
Female
Guinea Pig

Cuddles and Buffy are looking for a family that will love and care for them properly.  Cuddles came to us from a family that didn't have enough time for her.  Which is sad because gp's are so much fun (and relaxing) to hang out with.  And even though they are small, they need a big amount of attention. As with all GP's it's best to go slow.  That will put them more at ease, plus being prey animals they can get scared very easily. If their new family has kids parents should always supervise any interaction.  GP's have fragile backs and spines.  If not held properly that can easily be injured. Besides needing daily attention and love, GP's have specific dietary needs. A yearly vet check by a GP savvy vet will also be necessary to keep them fit. Spend some time with these two girls. You'll see why so many families love to have GP's be part of theirs! (See Buffy's card for more care information.)

Buffy & Cuddles
4-month-old
Female
Guinea Pig

Of these two, Buffy is a little more shy than Cuddles. She was from an accident litter!  Now in a shelter, she's the best reason for families not to breed.  She does settle down fairly quickly when placed on a lap.  And, unlike most piggies, these two are pretty easy to pick-up. Of course they prefer not to be, but if done patiently and slowly they stay pretty calm. And, once placed on laps they settle down quickly.  This is the best place to socialize...on a lap where lots of petting and scratching on their heads can be done. Both girl's are easy to do nail trims on. They are bonded and must be adopted together. But that's a good thing. GP's are considerably happier when they have a friend … just like people! They will need time outside of their cage every day. They need to stretch, but more importantly they need to get out for mental stimulation. Plus, it's a good time for their family to hang out with them. On average GP's live to be 5-6 years old. These girl's are young and still have several more years left! That's plenty of time to give their new family lots of love. (See Cuddles' card for more care/feeding information.)

Mulley & Ralphie
4-month-old
Male
Guinea Pig

Both Mulley and Ralphie were from an accidental litter.  Now in a shelter, they are the best reason for families not to breed. They are both really nice and would be fine for a family that hasn't had gp's before. Both boy's are easy to do nail trims on. They are bonded and must be adopted together. But that's a good thing. GP's are considerably happier when they have a friend .. same with people! They will need time outside of their cage every day. Woody & Arlo
Adult
Male
Guinea Pig

Woody and Arlo are so sweet and cute! We think these two would be great for a family that hasn't had gp's or has. As with all GP's it's best to go slow. That will put them more at ease, being prey animals they can get scared very easily. Woody is much more mellow than his son. Both of these boys are from a shelter in the city. They ended up with too many gp's and we had none! Spend some time with these two boys. You'll see why so many families love to have GP's be part of theirs! (See Arlo's card for more care information.)

Arlo & Woody
6-month-old
Male
Guinea Pig

Arlo and his dad (Woody) are going to make a great addition to the family that adopts them. Unlike most piggies, these two are pretty easy to pick-up. (Arlo is a bit shyer but in time should get more used to it.) Of course they prefer not to be, but if done patiently and slowly they stay pretty calm.
