Vi Vi

Eeyore

When Vi Vi was at MHS, where she was known as Vivienne, she was a favorite of the staff. She's now delighted to have a room with two windows looking out onto a garden, with birds at a bird feeder to keep her entertained all day. Vi and the other cat in the house needed a little time to learn to accept each other, but now they're co-habiting just fine. Furthermore, Vi has a crush on her guardian's boyfriend — she loves to rub on his legs and flip over to show off her belly for him to rub!

Eeyore

Eeyore

This playful, confident cat came to the Marin Humane Society from a Central Valley shelter where he and his brother had been surrendered by their humans because of landlord issues. Eeyore's new mom says "he's pretty much always on the move, except for naps."

Maya

Maya

Maya, who was known as Freida when she stayed at the Marin Humane Society, was adopted on March 15, 2009. Her new family says "things have been working out great." Freida loves going to the beach, playing in snow, and sleeping with the family cat!

Asta

Asta

Asta was called Shasta when she came to MHS from the Madera shelter in the Pet Partnership van. She and her littermates had been dumped in an orchard to fend for themselves. This beautiful dog is now very happy in her new home!

Beau Bear

HELLO! It's been almost one year since Beau Bear and I adopted each other and we can't wait to share. My human Kim is really excited and loves me so much. But I am even more happy to tell my side of the story and HAPPY BEGINNING! I know all you humans get so excited with happiness, but, woof woof, I need to shout out to all the canines and critters hangin out at the shelter! I know first PAW that life really gets better even at my age. I am about 7 now & a REALLY BIG BOY, over 120 lbs. I don't think anybody wanted me cuz they took my mate and son, but Kim came back 2 times just for me. It was a pretty ruff ride at first cuz I lived in a caged run all the time till my other owner died. I lived a VERY sheltered life & how boring!  Wow car rides, and walks, and my own backyard with tons of toys and my own couch in the pretty room. I think that use to be Kim's best room, but it's even better now! I have a bed in every room that she special made for me but I just LOVE that front room couch and private space sometimes. HEY! You humans at the shelter said I never play with toys or balls & showed no interest. Well I was confused about everything. But when I got to my new home, I was even more confused. The toilet flushing scared me so very bad. So did the TV! And what were all of these things I was snooping at when Kim slept that 1st night at my new home? I carried a toaster and a blender from the kitchen to another room my first night. That seemed to make my human laff alot. She asked if I was going to cook her breakfast. But when she left me I started to go crazy and she was only gone for a short period. But she still loves me even tho I ate a gate, and tried to run away to find her when she left. But now? OH I GET IT!  I even get to go in her car & her people all LOVE me. I am a good good BOY so thanks you humans over there at the shelter! We love ya! I want my Kim to go get me a play mate too. See ya soon maybe and Happy New Year!

Brutus & Hera

I recently adopted Brutus "Tangen" and on the same day I brought him home he adjusted to his new life with great ease and comfort. He is such a great (big!) boy and I am very happy to have him in my life. His story at the Marin Humane Society is rather lovely and that is why I need to share his journey. Brutus and his sister Hera, "Tonga" were raised together as kittens from the same litter and were surrendered together at the shelter. Fortunately, they came from a great home and I know the decision to surrender them must have been a heavy burden on the previous owners. According to his adoption paperwork, Brutus was able to go home with his sister if the adoptee was interested in adopting them together. The day I adopted him I didn't see his sister in the adoption area so I immediately assumed she was adopted. The possibility of his sister being adopted made my mind feel a little better; however, in my heart a sadness lingered knowing that they were separated for the first time since birth, breaking their bond. After two weeks at his new home, I decided to read Brutus' adoption paperwork yet again. Reading through all of his notes from the volunteers (who continued to mention his bond with his sister) I decided I needed to call MHS and find out his if sister was still there. I made the call and guess what...she was there! I placed her on hold and later that same day I went back to the shelter ready to take his sister home with me and reunite the two loving siblings once again.  After asking the very helpful volunteers at the MHS, I found out that Hera was adopted out; and therefore, that was why she wasn't at the shelter when I adopted her brother. Hera was surrendered back to the shelter the DAY before I called and on the very SAME day I made the call she was up for adoption once more. I knew right then and there that this was a sign I couldn't pass up. With the blessing of those at MHS Hera was now adopted and ready to go to her new home and see her brother! When we arrived to her new home and I opened up her condo/ carrier that the shelter generously provided, Brutus immediately saw her began kissing her, licking her all over! It was truly a beautiful sight to see. It was the best decision and I am very happy that they can now share their lives together again!

It's been a couple of weeks since they were reunited and I am very pleased to say that they are doing fabulous! The brother/ sister bond that was once broken are back together again, never to be apart!

Thank you for letting me share this wonderful and "Happy Endings" story with you!

Theresa, proud and very happy owner of Brutus and Hera
