Adopt a Senior Pet!

The Marin Humane Society has introduced the Senior Partners Program where mature cats (10 years and older) and dogs (8-10 years and older) are available for adoption at a special reduced adoption fee of $65.

The reduced adoption fee includes:

  • A full blood panel to rule out any underlying medical conditions
  • Behavior and medical evaluation
  • Pre-adoption medical treatments including spay/neuter surgery as needed
  • All vaccinations and deworming
  • Microchipping
  • Free post adoption behavior consultation

Did we mention that cats these days can live well into their twenties? That means our "senior" cats are actually middle-aged! And many dogs can live to be 18 years or more!

For more information on the Senior Partners Adoption Program, call Adoptions at 415.506.6225.

Thorn
11 year old
Neutered Male, 40lbs
Husky

Thorn seems to have discovered the fountain of youth. He’s active, strong, and will perform a mighty four-legged leap into the air when he sees you have an enticing treat! If you enjoy long walks and hikes, Thorn would love to go with you. If you like to sit, read, knit or work on your computer, Thorn would love to be by your side. Our behavior folks can give you tips on how to teach Thorn to take treats politely (he’s super eager). Thorn would love to have his family all to him self (no other dogs, please).

Sammy
9 year old
Neutered Male

Sammy is ready to warm another heart or two. Even at 9 years old, this guy has a lot left to offer to a cat friendly household. A cat with charisma, Sammy is a sweet, docile, gentleman, most of the time. He loves having his long, thick, luxurious coat brushed and hopes his new forever home will groom him on a regular basis. Even though he enjoys cuddling in your lap, being petted or just hanging out, he can be a little intolerant of invasive handling. He is polite and respectful but he is a man that knows his likes and dislikes. We think his needs will be pretty simple, a quiet, loving home with some sunny spots for lounging. Sammy is affectionate and really likes human company, check him out, we feel he will be a great friend for life.

Ideal Home: Best in home with high school age children or older

Franklin
9 year old
Neutered Male

Hello Franklin! His people had to move, but alas, "no cats allowed". Their restriction has become your boon. Franklin is a fun fellow and he even likes well mannered dogs and children. His prior owners reported that Franklin was known to join the family dog on their evening walkies. The Cat Pet Pals report that Franklin was eager for their visits. He was found to be "charming, gentle and loving. He likes to purr for his people and is a bona fide lap cat.
