Senior Partners Adoption Program

Seniors for seniors

The Marin Humane Society has introduced a Senior Partners Adoption Program where mature cats (8yrs and older) are available for adoption at a special reduced adoption fee of $60 for persons 62 years of age and older.

Research shows that seniors who have companion animals are generally more active and have better overall physical and mental health. Pets can reduce anxiety, lower blood pressure and even boost the immune system. And, by adopting an animal from a shelter, you can save a life!

The adoption fee includes:

  • Behavior and medical evaluation
  • Pre-adoption medical treatments including spay/neuter surgery as needed
  • Deworming, FELV/FIV test, flea/tick preventative and vaccinations
  • Microchipping
  • Free post adoption behavior consultation

Plus, cats 8 years of age and older are given a full blood panel to rule out any underlying medical conditions. This way adopters can rest assured that the animal is in good health.

Did we mention that cats these days can live well into their twenties? That means our "senior" cats are actually middle-aged!
