In the News

In an extremely rare occurance, a horse suffered massive injuries in an apparent mountain lion attack on a Sleepy Hollow ridge in San Anselmo. The horse, which is kept on a private pasture in the Loma Alta Preserve, was found by its owner on the afternoon of May 15 with severed tendons exposed and deep claw marks on its lower rear legs.

More than half of California is mountain lion habitat. Mountain lions generally exist wherever deer are found. They are quiet, solitary and elusive, and their nature is to avoid humans. The Marin Humane Society continues to monitor wildlife sightings throughout the County and encourages residents to read the following links for safety information.
