Turn Your Problem Parrot Into A Family Friend
Marin Humane Society to host Companion Parrot Connection's Fundamental Parrot Care seminar
(Novato, Calif., July 14, 2005) Choosing to share your life with a companion parrot is an important decision that requires considerable education and research. Unsuspecting owners quickly discover that parrots can be difficult to live with. As a result, homeless companion birds crowd shelters across the country because frustrated owners do not have the proper skills or knowledge to care for them. A local rescue organization, Companion Parrot Connection, will present Fundamentals of Parrot Care and Training on Saturday, July 23, 2005, from 10 am 2 pm at the Marin Humane Society (171 Bel Marin Keys Blv., Novato). The seminar is intended for those who want to learn more about their parrot’s behavior or would like advice about bringing a new bird into their home.
Fundamentals of Parrot Care and Training will offer insight into challenging parrot behaviors. For example, many caregivers don’t realize that behaviors like screaming and messiness are natural and can be managed with time and patience. This is a great opportunity to learn how to meet the specific emotional, physical and financial needs of your companion bird along with gaining important information on nutrition, vet care, proper housing and behavior training.
Companion Parrot Connection, founded in 2002 by rescue management and rehabilitation expert Coleen Doucette, rescues homeless parrots and adopts them into caring, knowledgeable homes. Through educational seminars and personal consultations, Companion Parrot Connection shows caregivers how to build a positive, respectful relationship with their feathered friends.
Cost is $20 pre-registered, $30 at the door. For more information or to register, call 530-237-6283 or visit www.parrotconnection.org
