Cat Care Workshop April 30 at the Marin Humane Society

Learn how to keep kitty healthy and happy

(NOVATO, CALIF., April 11, 2006) - Afraid to clip your cat's claws? Frustrated with litter box issues? Losing hope that your cats will ever get along? Come to the Cat Care Workshop Sunday, April 30 from 10am to 2pm at the Marin Humane Society (171 Bel Marin Keys Blvd., Novato) and get your feline health and behavior questions answered by Humane Society animal care experts.

MHS Cat Fund chair Julie Kaye will begin the workshop with a discussion about what it is that makes cats so special. Next, MHS veterinarian Belinda Evans, animal care director Kim Lanham-Synder, and cat behavior expert Margie Pratchenko will join together for a panel discussion on cat behavior, addressing a variety of topics, such as indoor vs. outdoor cats, litterbox issues, senior cat health, and more. Finally, MHS cat behavior consultant Laura Hazard will demonstrate proper handling techniques for grooming, nail trimming and administering medications.

“Feline behavior can bewilder even the most experienced cat guardian,” says Morgan Lance, MHS humane education coordinator. “The Cat Care Workshop will demystify some of these behaviors and provide cat lovers with the tools they need to strengthen their bonds with their feline companions.” For more information or to register, please call (415) 506-6288. Snacks and materials will be provided. A $30 registration fee benefits the Cat Fund.

The Marin Humane Society’s Cat Fund was established in 1992 to supplement and expand shelter cat services and programs in Marin. The Cat Fund is sponsored entirely through money raised from special events and generous donations from members of the community who are deeply committed to the well-being of cats.
