Update on Quail Ridge Fawn

August 12, 2008

We are deeply saddened to report that the injured fawn on Quail Ridge in Terra Linda died Tuesday despite receiving around-the-clock care from a team of expert wildlife and veterinary experts.

For weeks, the Marin Humane Society has been monitoring the fawn in an attempt to establish a pattern of travel to locate her and get close enough to capture her.

The Humane Society’s ongoing monitoring of and concern for the fawn as well as the complexities involved in tranquilizing and treating her were not fully understood by the public.

We would like to thank Marin residents for their concern about the injured fawn – we strongly encourage the community to be proactive in alerting us to wildlife concerns. As your Humane Society we do everything we can to help animals suffering from abuse, cruelty and neglect.

Every year, about 8,000 animals pass through our doors, and our Animal Services officers work 24/7 to respond to more than 7,000 emergency calls and investigate more than 1,800 complaints.

Strong local support has translated to a humane society that is respected around the country for its pioneering programs and services.

And it is your support that inspires our 96 skilled staff and nearly 800 volunteers to never rest as long as there are animals in need.
