Learn ways to cope with the loss of your pet

Marin Humane Society hosts Healing Memorial Workshop

(NOVATO, CALIF., June 22, 2007) - Grieving the loss of a pet can bring about intense feelings of shock, anger and sadness. Local non-profit organization, Bittersweet Animal Hospice & Grief Recovery, provides healing methods that empower grieving pet guardians to hold on to the memories of their relationship without constantly reliving the painful feelings associated with loss. The Marin Humane Society (171 Bel Marin Keys Blvd.) will host BitterSweet for a Healing Memorial Workshop on Saturday, June 30 from 10 am - 2 pm.

The Healing Memorial Workshop will address the nature of grief. Grief recovery specialist Lou Leet will provide pet guardians with methods of coping with their feelings and of dealing respectfully with others who may not acknowledge or understand the depth of their loss. Pet guardians will also learn how to create memorials using mementos or other objects that commemorate the relationship with their pets. Attendees are invited to bring copies of photos and other mementos, and will have the opportunity to share stories of their animal companions.

Cost is $75. To register, call (415) 506-6288. This is not an art class – no skills are necessary!
