Lucy

Excerpts from Lucy's Pen Pal Diary

Date: 1/24/06

Lucy arrived today. First impression is that she has a lot of energy. But she is a sweetheart.

We trained today and she did really well - A+! We worked on a new trick "spin". Her "sit" and "stay" are really good. This dog is really coming around.

Lucy is picking up fetch really well. She will bring the ball right back to your hand. She also knows "get it", "release", "jump & spin", and "bounce". Even though Lucy is a high energy dog she has no problem relaxing. Actually, she is one mellow dog when you want her to be.

Another nice day at San Quentin. Lucy and I went for a walk by the waterfront and we worked on recall. Even with distractions she did quite well. Lucy is really a cool dog. She has a swell disposition and she is always happy.

I have to say that Lucy is the most popular dog at the fire department. What a gem! Right now she is staring at me wishing I would put down the pen and pet her.

Today is Lucy's last day here. I know I speak for the whole firehouse when I say "we are going to miss her." Lucy brings joy to all of us. She is always happy and playful. We all just want her to find a good home. Someone who can give her all the joy and love she deserves.
