Is Your Cat Lost?
Please note that these photos represent only a few of the stray cats currently in our shelter. If you do not see your cat’s photo here, it is extremely important that you come to the shelter to look for your lost pet. Even if your cat has a microchip, you should still come to the shelter to look at the stray animals in our care. The Shelter is open 10 a.m. 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday and until 7 p.m. on Wednesdays, and is located at 171 Bel Marin Keys Blvd. in Novato.

Frequently Asked Questions
My cat has a microchip won’t you call me if the cat comes into the shelter?
Microchips are very important tools for getting your companion back home, but like any technology, they are not foolproof and the chip may not show up when the cat is scanned. You may also have moved since getting your cat chipped without updating your address in our files. Even if a cat microchipped, not all found cats end up at the shelter. If a lost report is on file, we can match a found cat reported over the phone with a description on file.
There is a cat posted who looks like mine, but was not found in the city where I live.
Cats are notorious for jumping into cars and trucks. Many cats have been picked up miles from their homes. If the animal looks like yours, be sure to come in and check.
The cat sort of looks like mine, but I am not positive. What should I do?
When in doubt, check it out. If the cat looks similar to your cat, always come in. Also, remember that the cats posted on the Web site are only a few of the stray cats we are caring for. Do not depend only on the Web site when searching for your animal. Come into the shelter.

- When you visit, remember to update your lost report by putting the date of your visit at the top of the page and moving your report to the front of the binder.
- Please keep in mind that lost reports are only kept in the binders for three months from the date of your last documented visit to the shelter.

- Please bring a current photo of your lost animal to attach to your report.
- Post Lost Cat Posters in the area and the surrounding areas where the animal was last seen.
- Be sure to call us to let us know you have located your pet so we can remove the report.
