Letter to our supporters

We want to personally thank each and every member of the community who has supported us in our effort to care for the dogs rescued from an Arizona puppy mill. Having only experienced the squalid conditions from which they were seized, these little creatures seemed to understand that the Marin Humane Society is some kind of Nirvana by comparison (or at least the Ritz Carlton!). Now that they are safely tucked away in their doting foster homes, we can begin the process of readying them for adoption, including medical rehabilitation for those who need it.

Thanks to the great media coverage we received, people have been coming out in droves, and from all over the Bay Area, to find out how they can bring one of these rescued dogs into their lives. We are grateful that so many people (over 300 and counting) are willing to offer lifelong companionship to these deserving animals---everyone who would like to turn in an application is welcome to do so.

We would also like to emphasize, that as wonderful as it will feel to adopt one of the Arizona dogs, there are canines of all breeds, both large and small, who have come from equally challenging circumstances and who need your help perhaps now more than ever. When the world seems to be focused on your canine cousins who are knee high to a grasshopper, it might feel like a bit of a liability to be a “big” dog. We have many wonderful dogs who would love the opportunity to meet you and show you all they have to offer.

Again, we would like to thank everyone who has offered us support as we work to give these (and all the animals in our care) a chance at a better life. At this moment, what we need more than anything is continued financial support. Our new charges still need to be spayed and neutered and some have medical issues that will need to be addressed.
