February is Companion Bird Education Month

Flock to these bird care seminars at the Marin Humane Society

(NOVATO, CALIF., January 24, 2006) - The Marin Humane Society (MHS) is going to the birds this February with the celebration of Companion Bird Education Month. Every year, thousands of birds are relinquished to shelters when frustrated guardians discover they do not have the proper skills or knowledge to care for them. MHS will host seminars throughout the month to help educate those who have questions about their bird’s behavior, or for anyone considering adding a companion bird to their family.

“Choosing to share your life with a companion bird is an important decision that requires considerable education,” says Morgan Lance, MHS humane education coordinator. “Companion Bird Education Month was designed to give bird guardians, and those thinking of adding a bird to their family, the tools they need to create a successful and lasting bond with their new avian friend.”

The following three seminars will take place at the Marin Humane Society (171 Bel Marin Keys Blvd., Novato) in February. To reserve space, please call (415) 506-6288.
