Marin Humane Society’s Trish King develops the Gentle Leader® Calming Cap™
(NOVATO, CALIF., May 12, 2006) — Trish King, director of behavior and training at the Marin Humane Society and nationally renowned dog behaviorist, has developed a new behavior management solution to ease anxiety for dogs in high-stress situations. The Gentle Leader® Calming Cap™, a product of Premier Pet Products, has earned great acclaim for decreasing emotional arousal in dogs, allowing for easier vet visits, dog-to-dog or dog-to-people interactions, and travel.
The Calming Cap works by filtering dogs’ vision, similar to if they were looking through gauze. A single-panel sheer fabric window offers enough sight to navigate surroundings while reducing stimulus that causes anxiety. The Cap connects to a dog’s collar with Velcro straps, allowing for easy on/off use. It is available in four sizes (petite, small, medium and large) and retails for $19.99.

Along with her role at the Marin Humane Society, Trish King is a nationally recognized canine behaviorist and speaker.
