Fun Is in Full Bloom This Spring at the Marin Humane Society
Teen animals lovers to host Family Fun Day on May 13
(NOVATO, CALIF., May 2, 2006) In honor of Be Kind To Animals Week, the Marin Humane Society’s teen animal service club, Roots & Shoots, will host a Family Fun Day on the MHS campus (171 Bel Marin Keys Blvd., Novato) Saturday, May 13, from 15 pm.
An afternoon of fun, animal-themed activities is planned. Families can compete in games, make animal crafts, get their faces painted, enjoy storytime with SHARE-a-Book volunteers and their dogs, meet adoption animals, treat their dogs to a refreshing bubble bath ($10 per dog), and more. The popular Musical Paws canine dancing troupe is also scheduled to perform at 3 pm. All proceeds from this event will benefit the shelter animals at the Marin Humane Society.
“The Roots & Shoots program inspires youth to make a difference by becoming involved in their communities,” says MHS humane education coordinator Morgan Lance. “Family Fun Day is a unique way to educate the community on animal welfare issues while celebrating all things animal.”
Cost is $5 per child. Refreshments will be available for purchase. For more information, please call (415) 506-6288.
Also taking place at the shelter that day from noon4 pm is a Greyhound Meet & Greet. This is an excellent opportunity to meet former racing Greyhounds who have been rescued by Greyhound Friends for Life. Learn more about this special breed and maybe even fall in love!
