Blacksheepstyle and Marin Humane Society Join Forces to Help Four-Legged Friends

(SAN MATEO, CALIF., April 14, 2008)Blacksheepstyle, an online apparel retailer specializing in designs for animal lovers, is pleased to announce a partnership with the Marin Humane Society.

Blacksheepstyle has named the Marin Humane Society as its "pet cause," and will donate five percent of all its revenues to the charity.

"When founding my apparel company, I made a commitment to donate a portion of my revenues to making the lives of animals better, "said Nancy Whitcraft, artist and owner of Blacksheepstyle. ”Animals have had a profound impact on my life and it makes sense for me to give back to an organization that cares about animals as much as I do. I am proud to be supporting this organization which has helped so many animals."

Founded in 1907, the Marin Humane Society is a progressive, award-winning animal shelter, offering refuge and rehabilitation to nearly 8,000 animals each year through myriad community services, including adoptions, foster care, behavior and training, humane education, lost-and-found pet services, low-cost clinics, and more.

Whitcraft said the organization is a perfect match for her company. She said her partnership with Marin Humane Society is not simply in donating money, but she looks forward to finding other ways to support the organization and help animals.

Among its designs, Blacksheepstyle has a line of T-Shirts putting pets in their proper place -- as the uncontested leaders of our lives. The shirt designs appeal to dog and cat owners. They are titled, "My leader."

"If a little green man came down from space and asked me to take him to my leader, I would introduce him to my dog," Whitcraft said, in explaining her design.

Blacksheepstyle urges shoppers "Don't follow the flock." The unique designs of the t-shirts available on the site reflect distinct personalities that are anything but part of the crowd.

From cupcakes to skulls to sheep, the entire line of shirts on Blacksheepstyle.com express humor and a playfulness that says, "Don't take life too seriously," according to the artist. The T-shirts are available starting at $18.00.

"As an illustrator, I have always sought out styles that reflect individuality," said Whitcraft, an accomplished artist who has had numerous gallery shows in the Bay Area. "Unfortunately, in our homogeneous society, I find it is nearly impossible to find unique styles that are not straight from the rack, straight from the mall, and straight from the flock."

Whitcraft's work has been shown at art shows and galleries throughout the West Coast.
