Safeguarding memories of your pets
Marin Humane Society hosts pet scrapbooking workshop
(NOVATO, CALIF., August 2, 2007) - Scrapbooks are a fun and artistic way to tell your animal companion’s story, whether as a memorial to a departed pet or as a way to capture memories as they are being made. Join Marin Humane Society master scrapbookers Kim Lanham-Synder and Elaine Sichel for a fun and informative workshop to learn the art of pet scrapbooking. The workshop will be held Saturday, August 18 from 1 3 p.m. at the Marin Humane Society (171 Bel Marin Keys Blvd., Novato).
In this hands-on workshop, animal enthusiasts will learn how to use various materials and techniques to create a memory book that reflects the special joy of their companion animals. Photographs, textured papers, ribbon, clippings, dog training certificates and ID tags are just some of the many fun elements that can be incorporated into a scrapbook.
“You don’t need to be an artist to make a scrapbook,” says workshop instructor and MHS board member Elaine Sichel. “You just need your imagination, basic supplies and some simple instruction on using the array of tools and materials available.”
Cost is $25 and reservations are required as space is limited. Participants should bring 68 small to medium-sized photos of their pet; additional tools and supplies will be provided. To register, call (415) 506-6256 or write loveanimals@marinhumanesociety.org.
