On Friday, April 4, The Oprah Show exposed the hidden world of puppy mills. Thanks to Oprah, millions of viewers learned about the realities of this cruel industry. We are grateful to Oprah for bringing national attention to the abuses that take place in puppy mills, and for encouraging pet lovers to spay/neuter their animals and adopt from shelters and rescue groups.

Winfrey currently owns three dogs adopted from breeders - and says, "I would never, ever adopt another pet now without going to a shelter to do it. I am a changed woman after seeing this show."

Just last month, about 800 small dogs were seized from a puppy mill in Southern Arizona.
Because the Southern Arizona Humane Society is a small shelter with very limited housing and resources, the Marin Humane Society volunteered to transport approximately 100 dogs from Tucson to Marin to find them new homes.

Puppy mills, like the one in Arizona, are far from unique. The Marin Humane Society is committed to rescuing animals from this type of abuse whenever and wherever possible, but we can’t do it without financial contributions from people like you. If you would like to support future rescue efforts, please click here to make a donation. Be assured that your generosity will make a difference in the life of an animal in need.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
