Anne Brody
Director of Volunteer Services

Anne Brody came to work at the Marin Humane Society in March 1990. She began her career in the Customer Care Department as the Licensing Assistant. In 1994, Anne was promoted to the office supervisor position and in October, 2000, she developed the position of Director of Customer Service overseeing the Customer Care and Adoption departments. She was instrumental in raising the level of customer service in her departments and shelter-wide.

In 2005, Anne took on a new position – Volunteer Coordinator. Within a year, she was promoted to Director of Volunteer Services. She oversees a program of approximately 750 adult volunteers. In 2007, she worked to bring Workplace Culture Guidelines to the organization, recognizing the importance of establishing a humane workplace ethic. She is also an active member of the MHS Customer Service Coordinating Committee, working to improve customer service within the organization.

Anne has been an animal lover all her life with a special fondness for cats. She and her husband, Al, share their home with three cats – Smokey, Sammy and Benny – and a red-eared slider, Gizmo. She has been a vegetarian for 35 years. Anne has raised two children who are currently attending graduate school. She is a certified yoga teacher and also loves cooking and baking, reading, hiking, cycling, and being in the mountains.

Tricia Breen
Director of Animal Care and Adoptions

A Bay Area native, Tricia received a B.S. in Biology with an emphasis in ecology and animal behavior from the University of Massachusetts.

Tricia grew up on horseback, was a riding instructor for children and moved around the country for several years training dogs and their people. Upon her return to the Bay Area, Tricia began volunteering at the Marin Humane Society, and before long was hired as a dog training instructor and behavior consultant. Tricia also added "matchmaker" to her job description, as her knowledge of dog behavior combined with her compassion for people made her an invaluable asset in the adoption department.

Most recently, Tricia took on the vital role of Director of Animal Care and Adoptions which she finds simultaneously challenging and rewarding. Of course, she still finds time to play "matchmaker."

When not exercising her 3 active dogs, Tricia relaxes by listening to music.

Nancy McKenney
Chief Executive Officer

For as long as she can remember, Nancy has had a deep love and respect for animals. Growing up in Washington State, her family took in many stray and abandoned pets throughout the years. Her companion animals—past and present—have inspired in her a deep commitment to the welfare of all animals and have guided her throughout her professional career.

Nancy’s career in animal welfare began in 1983 as the public relations coordinator for the Humane Society for Seattle/King County. By the summer of 1986, she was asked to become the organization’s CEO, a position she held for 19 years. In 2006, Nancy was appointed the first executive director of the Petfinder.com Foundation. The non-profit Foundation was established in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina to assist animal welfare agencies with direct funding and training and education grants. In 2008, Nancy began working for King County Animal Care and Control, developing outreach plans and communications strategy, and eventually stepping into the interim position of acting manager.

Nancy earned her undergraduate degree from Brown University and a master’s degree in Not-for-Profit Leadership from Seattle University. She is past president of the Washington State Federation of Animal Care and Control Agencies, past president and treasurer of the Society of Animal Welfare Administrators (SAWA), and previously served on the board of directors for the Washington State Federation of Animal Care and Control Agencies.
