Research shows that children who are taught to be kind
towards animals tend to mature into compassionate adults. At the Marin Humane
Society, we are delighted to share our ethic of compassion with members
of our community, especially youth.
We believe humane education is more than just learning about
pet care or preventing neglect or abuse. It raises awareness, respect for
others, animals and people, and engages children by empowering them to make
Our Humane Education department reaches out to
thousands of Marin children and teens every year with on-site and outreach
presentations to schools, community service opportunities, after-school clubs, workshops, shelter tours,
and most popular of all, summer camp. SHARE a Book provides canine reading
partners at schools and libraries. Children also have the opportunity to
celebrate their birthday at the Marin Humane Society! Through our programs we
bring the message of teaching compassion and respect, while giving children the
opportunity to benefit from the humane companion animal bond.
