Canine Behavior Academy

The MHS Canine Behavior Academy (CBA) is a 10-week course offered twice a year for busy people who would like to become professionals in the dog training world or who just want to learn more about the animals that accompany us through our lives. Check back to register for the next academy.

Led by Trish King the academy stresses practical information delivered in a relaxed but engaging atmosphere. Classes include lecture, video and demonstrations with dogs. Student’s dogs are welcome to attend most class sessions.

The syllabus includes the basics of:

• Canine ethology
• Social theory
• Body language
• Behavior evaluations
• Safe handling
• Learning theory
• Equipment usage
• Training exercises
• Behavior problems and modification techniques
• Beginning level consulting
