An act of compassion occurs in every corner of the Marin Humane Society, every day. From the empathic exchange of information with a guardian needing to surrender their companion, the enthusiastic adopter preparing to take their new four-footed family member home, to the caring comfort an animal care technician provides an ill stray cat, and the consultation going on in our Behavior and Training department - we experience the gamut of emotions at MHS!

Animal Communication: How Does it Work?

Wouldn't it be great if we could talk to animals? Well, according to local author and animal communicator Marta Williams, it can be done. By using our innate intuitive ability, Marta says that people can exchange mental, visual, and emotional messages with their own and other animals. Williams is offering a series of workshops at the Marin Humane Society that teach people how to learn this unique and exciting skill.

Animal Photography for Kids

Having the opportunity to photograph our shelter animals is one of my favorite things about working at the Marin Humane Society (MHS)! From puppies and kittens to guinea pigs and goats, we photograph thousands of animals every year. These photos often wind up being the first impression of an animal for potential adopters, weather they are searching online for their next family member or wandering our Adoption Center where photos of animals are prominently displayed outside every room.
